I recently upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 and then i added my work exchange server to my android email app.
All the setup went successfully asking for username, password, mail server, port, ssl, etc... then prompted for some security authorization and finally said connected.
But the problem is after all the above steps it just sits and spins Waiting for sync forever. I gave enough time but still no progess.. looks like it is stuck and going nowhere.. however it was working fine with ginger bread and froyo... only problem is with ICS 4.0.3 and 4.0.4... anybody know how to solve this issue?

This normally happens when exchange administrators turn on security and old cached data while setting up the account on android
Here is what to get around this

Clearing the cache did the trick.
Delete the Exchange account
Go to settings, applications, click all apps, find e-mail and clear cache.
Re-set up the exchange account and voila you should be set to go.

I am having the same problem on android 4.2. I removed the account, cleared the cache and date for email app. and set a 5 digit pin, but it is still not working. I checked my exchange sever setting my phone appears there but the last successful sync time is unknown in there.

Go to settings, Data Usage and select settings from within Data Usage. Enable auto sync.
